When the Department of Geography at the University of Sheffield approached us to change people’s perceptions of the department’s offering, we knew there was mountains’ of scope to do things differently.
We were charged with creating an inspirational, forward-thinking design for an online advertising campaign and a completely new direction for printed collateral aimed at all key markets – undergraduate, postgraduate and international. After a successful first year of brochures, online campaigns and repeat print runs, we applied ourselves to improve the University's reputation as a world-leading department even further.
We initially delved deep to research how we could position the department, identifying its unique selling point – being located on the doorstep of the Peak District, one of the UK’s most stunning areas of countryside.
Our approach to the visual elements that construct the identity for the department has been sourced through embedding ourselves in the student's environments, as well as capturing the esscence of Sheffield's scenic landscapes and various documents used in the field. We employed talented, local photographer, India Hobson, to capture the scenic landscape and document field experiments, which has been used throughout a suite of brochures and postcards.
Field have a continued working partnership with the University of Sheffield, bolstered by two new brochures for 2016, an assortment of map-folding brochures, sets of postcards and online advertising for the department. All of these are fulfilling their purpose of promoting a collection of major undergraduate and postgraduate courses, enhancing the University's global reach and reputation.
